More free schools blocked by CCC

I was made aware last week that St.Neots, which, like Godmanchester is expanding at an alarming rate, also had a Free School approved in 2017, the St.Neots Academy. They too had problems identifying a site that would satisfy their councillors, and ultimately had their school cancelled by the CCC.

Further research revealed that 8 Free Schools were approved by the DfE in 2017, of these 4 were proposed secondary schools: Godmanchester, St.Neots Academy, St.Bede's inter-church School, Soham, and the Cambridge City Free School.

Three of these have had their approval withdrawn under pressure from the County Council' s Education Dept. and the fourth is of unknown status.
